The stars' quack remedies are junked by scientists: Cheryl Cole's blood group diet and Naomi Campbell's maple syrup regime slammed

From Cheryl Cole’s belief in the ‘blood group diet’ to Naomi Campbell’s maple syrup, lemon and pepper ‘detox’ regime, celebrities rarely shy away from inflicting quack remedies on an unsuspecting public.
Now scientists are hitting back.
In a report, the charity Sense About Science has named and shamed the sports stars, singers, actors and models guilty of promoting pseudo scientific nonsense in the past year.
The big names range from David Beckham and Olivia Newton-John to Robert De Niro and Kate Middleton.
One of the most popular fads of the year was the Master Cleanse detox diet, used by supermodel Naomi Campbell, as well as actress Demi Moore and her actor husband Ashton Kutcher. Followers eat nothing but maple syrup, lemon and pepper for up to two weeks.
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Miss Campbell said: ‘It’s good just to clean out your body once in a while.’
But today’s report said detox was nothing more than a ‘marketing myth’ – and that our bodies don’t need pricey potions or ‘boosts’.

Will.i.am enjoys romance rumours with Cheryl Cole

Rapper Will.i.am says he finds rumours of romance with Cheryl Cole "cool".
"The me and Cheryl rumours? Those are funny. I thought those rumours were cool. They weren't true but they were cool. They were cool rumours," contactmusic.com quoted him as saying.
The 35-year-old also admits at high school he wasn't very successful with the opposite sex.
"Ever since high school I would like a girl and they would say, 'I see you as my brother.' Wasn't that irritating? But it kept me out of trouble. If I'd had it the way I wanted it in high school, I wouldn't be focused on my music like I am now, and I'd probably have a billion kids.
"Girls saw me as a friend and it protected me from being distracted from my music. It was painful so I wrote songs about it."
